THE RIGHT CHOICE OF PAPER Pay attention to the processes following printing:
- Dense coatings cause difficulties in subsequent fitting and gluing of book block.
- To make it easier for a person who will read a book, the paper should not be too white (the strong whiteness tired of the eyes).
- There must be a balance between the mass and the opacity of the paper (the text should not be visible).
- Offset, laser or ink jet printing must match the paper used.
- It's a good idea to avoid too thin or too thick material to make a book binding.
Whenever possible, it is good to plan the print so that the inner pages run "alongside of the water" (polygraph term), ie. along the length of the fiber of the sheet. Placed in this way text facilitates the wide opening of the pages of the book. The direction of the cover fibers must correspond to the direction of the book body. This means that it is nice to choose a short-fiber cardboard cover.
What you need to know when choosing media to print
- The coverage limit and the thickness of the inner pages.
- Avoid using material for binding with insufficient density and strength.
- Avoid using paper with great transparency or great clarity.
- Extremely white paper prevents reading bright light.
- For full-color printing, the paper should be white enough for the colors to stand out.
